UPDATE: Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak in NSW, the NSW Local Government elections will now be held on Saturday 4 December 2021.

With a change to the elections date, comes a change to the whole elections calendar. For all the new key dates like when nominations, postal voting, pre-poll open and more visit: https://bit.ly/3zw6wUq. To keep up to date on all things local council elections visit: https://www.elections.nsw.gov.au/lge21

The NSW Local Government elections will be held on Saturday 4 September. Voting locations in the Parkes Shire will be released closer to the date.

Parkes Shire Council will be hosting workshops for those community members wanting to run for Council. More information will be shared as it becomes available.

Are you passionate about what happens in your local community? Becoming a Councillor is an exciting opportunity to make a difference and to represent the interests of our community. Being a Councillor is a rewarding opportunity to make decisions that help people within our community, influence the long term vision and direction of our community, balance the needs and priorities of our community as well as learn new skills such as leadership, public speaking and advocacy.

Parkes Shire Council will be holding an information session for people interested in standing as a candidate for Parkes Shire Council at the 04 September 2021 Local Government elections. This session will be facilitated by Local Government NSW.

+ Time: 6.00 - 8.30pm

+ Location: Via Zoom

This program will enable those interested in becoming a Councillor to gain a better understanding of the role and responsibilities as an elected member of Council, plus learn about the:

+ Expectations and potential challenges

+ Introduction to Local Government

+ Understanding the role of Council and the role of the Councillor & more!
