In accordance with Section 644(a) to 644(c) of the Local Government Act 1993, Council is advertising its intention to re-establish an alcohol free zone in the following areas for a further four year period commencing 01 April 2021 to 31 March 2025:

Bushman Street, Currajong Street, May Street, Hartigan Avenue and Bogan Street in Parkes

Caswell Street, Peak Hill, from Dugga Street to Ween Street, including rear lane ways adjacent to Caswell Street in Peak Hill

An Alcohol Free Zone has operated within Parkes and Peak Hill for many years and has been effective in reducing incidents of malicious damage to property, littering, offensive behaviour and language resulting from the irresponsible consumption of alcohol. Council is of the view that members of the public are entitled to use this area in safety and without interference or obstruction.

Council is inviting the Parkes and Peak Hill communities to Have Your Say on the proposal to re-establish the Alcohol Free Zones. Feedback will be received until 5.00pm Friday 26 February 2021.
